JOB DESCRIPTION
The Creative Lead at Potato Pirates will oversee the artistic direction of new and existing games, including game art, graphics, and concept design. This role also encompasses the creation of engaging social media marketing content, such as comics, short animation videos, and long-form computer science-related animated videos. The Creative Lead will guide the visual and conceptual aspects of our projects from ideation to execution, collaborating closely with the product development and marketing teams to ensure our content educates, engages, and grows our community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead the artistic direction for game art, graphics, and concept design, ensuring a cohesive and engaging visual style across all products.
- Oversee the creation of social media marketing content, including comics, short animations, and long-form educational videos, aligning with our marketing strategies to enhance our online presence.
- Collaborate with the product development team to ensure that the artistic elements enhance the educational and gameplay experience.
- Manage and mentor a team of designers, artists, and animators, fostering a creative, collaborative, and productive environment.
- Partner with the marketing team to ensure all creative content supports the brand’s mission, drives user engagement, and promotes social media growth.
- Utilize insights from research on gaming trends, educational theories, and user engagement metrics to inform and refine the artistic process.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet our high standards for creativity and educational value.
KEY SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Computer Science, Game Design or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in a creative leadership role, preferably within the gaming or edtech industry.
- A deep understanding of computer science or coding.
- A strong portfolio showcasing expertise in game art, graphics, sketching, concept design, and social media content creation (comics, animations, video content).
- Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma), as well as animation and video editing software.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage, inspire, and direct a creative team.
- Creative and innovative thinker with an ability to solve problems, adapt to changing trends, and engage diverse audiences.
- A passion for education and a solid understanding of learning principles and game-based learning, coupled with a keen sense of current social media marketing trends.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, test, and implement responsive web interfaces using Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate design concepts into functional and visually appealing web applications.
- Integrate front-end components with server-side logic and functionality, working closely with our Ruby on Rails back-end team.
